Serviceman Ltd established their retail store and workshop in South Dunedin in 1986. Over the years Serviceman Ltd has become a respected business and identity in the community, known for their speedy service, trust, credibility and experience.

  1. Your privacy, the privacy of your home, place of work, property and possessions is paramount and will be shown the utmost level of respect at all times.
  2. We shall provide prompt and courteous service at all times, and where appropriate, be ready to render emergency after hours service.
  3. All personnel and vehicles shall be identifiable as part of the “SERVICEMAN” team and maintain standards of cleanliness, presentation and order that reflect pride in our workmanship.
  4. All materials used will be of a high quality, guaranteed, and designed for the job at hand. New Zealand made materials and products are used where possible.
  5. We shall replace and/or correct promptly any defective material or workmanship, and shall not interpret payment as an acceptance of such work.
  6. We shall take precautions to protect your furnishings, interior and exterior surfaces and all property and possessions in the course of performing our service.

John Bayne - Owner / Managing Director

John Bayne - Owner / Managing Director As Managing Director, John oversees the running of the business, as well as providing customer quotes, lighting, heating & solar design. His experience and knowledge means that he is called on to carry out electrical inspections and prepare insurance reports. 

John enjoys working with a great team, meeting new people and helping clients find the best solution for their particular needs.

John lives with his wife Karen, who works at Toitu Museum, and his son Zachary, who is currently studying Computer Science at Otago University.

John is an avid runner having competed in 10 marathons and 11 ultra marathons. He also previously competed in rowing (NZ Rep.) and harriers. John also enjoys trying new beers, finding new tracks and trails to run, and walking the dogs "Vinnie the Bulldog" and "Roger the Schnauzer".

Craig McEwan - Owner / Electrical & Heating Manager

Craig McEwan - Owner / Electrical & Heating Manager Craig heads up Serviceman's team of electricians, refrigeration engineers and heating specialists, making sure you get the right man for the job, ensuring jobs run smoothly, are completed on time and finished to the highest quality every time.

Craig loves the variation of his day to day tasks and challenge of finding the best solution for the client.

He lives in Dunedin with his wife and two boys, and enjoys playing indoor cricket, representing New Zealand in 2010. He enjoys watching most sports, and follows closely the various achievements of his two sons - proud Dad!

Judith - Office Manager

Judith - Office Manager With a solid background in administration Judith is tasked with keeping the business running smoothly, you will usually speak to Judith as your first point of call when you ring Serviceman, and she is also great at keeping the "boys in line".

Judith loves the variety her role offers, and enjoys working with a great team of people.

Judith was born and bred in Dunedin, and in her spare time likes to relax with a good book (and dare I say, glass of wine), otherwise you will find her out walking her dog.

Bruno Rietveld - Refrigeration Engineer

Bruno Rietveld - Refrigeration Engineer Bruno is part of Serviceman's dedicated team specialising in Air Conditioning. Bruno has been in the industry a LONG time (he has a young face!) and has a background in commercial refrigeration along with many years servicing and installing domestic air conditioning. Bruno's knowledge and experience is 2nd to none and he is our "go to" man when a challenging problem arises.
Bruno enjoys the challenge installing/servicing new products and is involved in PV solar, Solar Pool Heating and Heat Pump Water Heating.

Bruno has a wife and kids and is a bit of a petrol head.

Tabreez Shah - Refrigeration Engineer

Tabreez Shah - Refrigeration Engineer Tabreez is part of Serviceman's dedicated team specialising in heat pump installation and repair. He has an excellent knowledge of all brands of Heat Pumps and if Tabreez can't repair it - nobody can.
Tabreez also enjoys the challenge of working with new developments in the Air Conditioning field including heat pump water heating and hybrid solar/heat pump products.

Tabreez has lived in Dunedin since 2006 and enjoys music and sports when not at work.

Dave Gillanders - Electrician

Dave Gillanders - Electrician Dave has been working with Serviceman since January 2013, and was previously self-employed. When asked what he likes about working for Serviceman he laughs and says "the money", but goes on to add he has a great boss and awesome crew to work with.
Dave is a very experienced Electrician and runs our larger electrical jobs. He enjoys working with customers to make sure they get exactly what they want. He prides himself in exceeding expectations by "thinking out of the box" and tapping into his extensive industry knowledge (bit of an Electrical Geek). 

Originally from Milton, Dave has two young children and most of his spare time is spent with them or renovating their home, otherwise you will find him playing bridge.

Mohammed Hakik - Electrician

Mohammed Hakik - Electrician Mo is a Commercial and Domestic Electrician with experience across a broad range of the industry. 
Mo enjoys the mix of work that he sees on a daily basis with a variety of servicing, maintenance and general electrical tasks.

Mo lives here with is wife and three kids and likes to play indoor sports and pool. In his spare time he can usual be found "doing something around the house or property", fishing or playing (coaching) soccer with his kids.

Michael McBeath - Electrician

Michael McBeath - Electrician Mike is one of the  "rising stars" at Serviceman, working his way through an apprenticeship to become an excellent "Sparky" and customer favourite.  
Mike says variety is what he loves about working for Serviceman mentioning electrical maintenance, heat pumps, solar water and electrical as just a few.

Mike lives in Dunedin, as do his parents and three siblings. His favourite pastimes are water sports, motorbikes and socialising.

Tim the Toolman - Electrician

Tim the Toolman - Electrician Tim is one of our team of "Quick Response" Registered Electricians and is experienced in all aspects of Commercial and Domestic electrical . Tim looks after a number of supermarkets and large commercial customers and prides himself on "getting things back up and running"  as fast as possible.
Tim is involved in Electrical Safety Testing and Tagging of Electrical and Equipment to avoid shock hazards and ensure a safe environment for customers and staff.
Tim is very thorough in his work ethic and it is reassuring to know if the job has been done by Tim, it has been done right!

Warren Officer - Electrician

Warren Officer - Electrician Warren is one of those "Genuinely Nice Guys" who gets on with everyone and is great to have around. He has a vast electrical knowledge and is keen to pass this on to the "Young Guns" at Serviceman.
While relatively new to Serviceman, Warren boasts nearly 40 years Electrical experience, but jokingly refers to himself as the "new boy". 

Warren lives in Dunedin after moving here from Te Anau many years ago. He has four grown children, and not one to remain idle, enjoys landscaping and pottering around the house in his spare time.

Cameron Parata - Apprentice Electrician

Cameron Parata - Apprentice Electrician Cameron has just started his Electrical Apprenticeship with Serviceman which will take him approximately three years to complete.

He takes great pride  in his work and enjoys seeing each job right through to its completion, delivering the best result possible to the client. With this attitude you can be sure he will fit right in with the team at Serviceman.

Cameron is a true Dunedinite, living with his parents and two brothers. He enjoys playing Squash at the Sunnyvale Sports Centre. When he has time off he likes to travel around New Zealand and visit family.

Tom Sullivan - Apprentice Electrician

Tom Sullivan - Apprentice Electrician Tom is one of our new Trainee Sparkies and is showing great potential. He is very energetic, a fast learner and  keen to do a quality job.
Tom's main role is to assist wherever needed, all the while learning from the more senior members of the team. He likes that working for Serviceman means he is active, and "out and about", and he is enjoying the variety of work which Serviceman is involved with, including Heat Pumps, Electrical and Solar. 

Tom lives in Dunedin with is parents and two sisters. In his spare time Tom enjoys playing rugby, socialising and playing the guitar.

Vinnie - Mascot / General Dogsbody

Vinnie - Mascot / General Dogsbody Vinnie is a 35kg British Bulldog who loves food, walks and food. He is scared of wheelie bins, balloons and kittens.
Vinnie has a flatulence problem that he is not embarrassed about, and burps out loud after tea.
Vinnie loves Dog Agility (even though he can only run in a straight line) and would love to learn to Snowboard.
